See the list of winners of #KENSBeautyAwards 2021

Just over a year ago, it seemed as though the world stopped spinning. Our lives, as we knew them to be, were irrevocably changed. We stopped going outside, transformed our homes into offices and questioned the present and the future.

We went through many changes as we adapted to the new normal and tried to make sense of our current way of life.

However, despite all these trials, tribulations and unforeseen circumstances, one thing did not change: our beauty routine and our love for products.

For most of us, we relished that extra-long ritual of applying our favourite beauty product and spritzing perfume on despite having no plans. We found joy and comfort in our beauty routines — more than ever before.

Beauty became our therapy.

And so, to honour the products that have not only beautified us but also lifted our spirits, here are the winners of this year’s #KENSBeautyAwards, as voted by you:

Best Cleanser

Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser

The pandemic has not only made us more cautious, but also got us thinking about a cleaner and safer way of living — and this manifested itself even in our choice of cleansers. Caudalie’s Instant Foaming Cleanser is the go-to product for anyone looking to transform their skincare routine into a cleaner and safer one.

There are absolutely no synthetic ingredients, harsh irritants and unsustainable packaging involved in the making of this product, which is why we love it. It is formulated with 97% to 100% natural-origin ingredients and packed in 100% recyclable plastic, so in short, it’s good for the skin and good for the environment as well.

Best Moisturiser

Ren Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream

Illuminate without irritation” — that was the promise this product offered, and that was exactly what our skin got. This light gel-cream moisturiser, which only activates upon contact with the skin’s natural microbiome, targets hyperpigmentation to illuminate, smooth and re-energise the skin for that perfect glow.

On top of that glow, this moisturiser also works to erase all traces of sun damage, uneven skin tone, tired or dull skin and fine lines. What’s not to love?

Best Serum

Dr Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum

When there’s actual science involved in skincare, you’ll know that it’ll be 100% effective, as proven by Dr Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic Serum. Featuring a power-pack of moisturising ingredients that super-boost dry and dehydrated skin, the formula also contains long-chain hyaluronic acid molecules that penetrate the surface of the skin for instant hydration and glow.

Glow aside, two potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant active compounds, Purslane and Skullcap, work to nourish and protect the skin against free radical damage. We love a multi-tasker like this one.

Best Face Mist

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist

This neroli and rose-scented facial mist refreshes not only the skin, but also the spirit. But this product is more than just for show, as it contains orange blossom, rose and sage waters that purify and tone the skin; apple pectin that provides long-lasting hydration and suppleness and last but not least, the star ingredient, Omorovicza’s patented Healing Concentrate that leaves the skin firmer, more supple and younger-looking.

The Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist is also incredibly versatile and can be used anytime, anywhere — a clear winner in our books.

Best Mask

Eve Lom Moisture Mask

It would come as no surprise if beauty enthusiasts say that the Eve Lom Moisture Mask is the reason why they look forward to one or two particular days during the week or even sleep, because this skin-quenching mask can instantly replenish dull and dehydrated skin.

All it takes is an application either once or twice a week, or overnight for some serious beauty sleep, and one would wake up with rehydrated, refreshed, refined and radiant skin. Plus, keeping the mask in the fridge prior to application truly elevates the experience.

Best for Body

Augustinus Bader The Body Cream

Nothing can compare to the feeling of smoothing a rich, luxurious cream all over the body. But texture aside, there’s another reason why Augustinus Bader’s The Body Cream is highly-coveted: it helps to reverse signs of ageing as well.

With active ingredients like the patented TFC8®, which guides key nutrients and powerful natural ingredients to cells to facilitate the renewal process, as well as Brazilian Candeia Oil to ensure that the skin holds on to moisture and shea butter to soften and hydrate the skin, there’s really no doubting this product’s placement as a winner in the Best for Body category.

Best Hand Care

Grown Alchemist Hydra Hand Sanitiser

Sanitisers have been all the rage for the past year or so, but not one can match up to Grown Alchemist’s Hydra-Hand Sanitiser. This advanced antiseptic sanitiser, which is formulated with Hyaluronan and Antioxidants to instantly sanitise and hydrate the skin, have protected our hands from moisture loss and premature ageing.

Though this sanitiser is formulated with ethyl alcohol to kill bacteria, Hyaluronan and Sweet Almond Oil boost the skin’s moisture levels while other ingredients like coconut oil removes dirt and grime, and the cold-pressed sweet orange oil and pot marigold calm the skin. This is also perhaps the best-smelling sanitiser available.

Best for Hair

Rahua Leave In Treatment

Protective and healing, this flexible anti-frizz treatment delivers remarkable shine, shields hair from stress, and prevents breakage and split ends.

Crafted using omega-9-rich Rahua oil, this leave-in treatment acts as a heat protectant, guards hair against the stress of blow-drying and styling tools and adds definition and separation when air drying. With a product like this in your beauty arsenal, you’re guaranteed to have fantastic hair at all times.

Best Fragrance for Men

Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur

Though this scent once caused a scandal when it was first released in 2000, we’re all for it at the moment due to its powerful, sexy, mysterious and potent mix of bergamot, mandarin, cinnamon, musk, amber, vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood.

It is currently dubbed the most sensual perfume in the Frederic Malle collection and we have absolutely no doubts about that — we’ll willingly let this scent ravage our senses.

Best Fragrance for Women

Goutal Petite Chérie

There’s no questioning why this cult classic had to be the winner of the Best Fragrance for Women category. It’s not because Goutal had just celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, but because of the sheer art and meaning that went into this perfume.

Petite Chérie was created for Annick Goutal’s daughter, and the tenderness can be felt — if not sniffed — by all of us. After all, the combination of rose, pear, vanilla and musks is so loved even after all these years, making it one of the best perfumes for anyone of all ages due to its sensual yet innocent notes.

Best Candle

diptyque Baies

Did you know that this beautiful blend of berries, blackcurrant and Bulgarian roses is colloquially known as “the sexy fireplace candle”? Yes, this best-selling scent has garnered such a reputation for itself that it would be the first thing someone would recommend as a gift or as a wonderfully decorative and heavenly-scented addition to the home.

Despite the plethora of choices when it comes to candles, there is no doubt that diptyque’s Baies will continue to take up a special space in our hearts and our homes.

That’s it for this year’s winners. See you at the next #KENSBeautyAwards! What will your favourite be then, you think?
